Special Purpose Machines (SPM)

As a custom SPM manufacturer in India, Precimax Engineers designs and builds special purpose machines, manufacturing automation stations and production line automation equipment around your exact process — pipe bending, clinching, assembly and welding automation engineered for shop-floor repeatability, not adapted from a catalogue machine.

Product Overview

Industrial Automation Machines, Engineered Around One Job

A special purpose machine is built to do exactly one operation — bend a pipe to a fixed angle, clinch two sheets together, assemble a sub-component, or position a part for welding — repeatably, at a target cycle time, without depending on operator skill for consistency. That focus is what separates an SPM from a general-purpose machine tool: less flexibility, but far higher throughput, repeatability and lower per-cycle cost for the one job it's built to do.

Precimax Engineers has been supplying manufacturing automation to automotive, electrical, railway and general engineering customers alongside our tooling and pressed-parts business — the same tool room that builds your dies and press tools also designs and fabricates the machines that run your process.

Built Around Your Process

As a custom SPM manufacturer in India, Precimax Engineers designs and builds industrial automation machines around one specific operation — eliminating manual variability and holding cycle time and repeatability that manual handling can't match.

Material Selection

Materials & Components We Work With

The machine base, tooling and control components are each specified for the duty they carry — structural rigidity for the frame, wear resistance for tooling, and reliable switching for controls.

ComponentTypical Material / SpecWhy It's Chosen

SPM Manufacturing Workflow

Six Stages From Enquiry to Dispatch

Every special purpose machine is engineered around your specific operation through the same six-stage discipline applied across all our product lines.

Step 01

Design Review

Your process description, part drawing and target cycle time are reviewed to confirm feasibility and automation approach.

Step 02

Tool Design

Machine layout, tooling, fixturing and control architecture are designed in-house around the single operation being automated.

Step 03

Material Selection

Frame steel, tooling grade and pneumatic/electrical components are specified for the duty cycle and required machine life.

Step 04

Manufacturing

Fabrication, precision machining, tooling build and assembly of mechanical, pneumatic and control systems under one roof.

Step 05

Quality Inspection

Functional trial run against your process parameters, cycle-time verification and safety interlock checks before sign-off.

Step 06

Dispatch

Machine dismantled/crated for transit as needed, shipped with drawings and operating documentation, with on-site or remote commissioning support.

Retrofit, Upgrade & Scale-Up

An existing manual station can often be automated in stages rather than replaced outright — start with the highest-variability operation, prove the cycle time and repeatability gain, then extend automation to adjoining stations as volume justifies it. Precimax Engineers also retrofits and upgrades machines it has previously supplied — new tooling for a part variant, added sensing for tighter process control, or a control-panel upgrade as a line's automation needs grow.

Engineering Approach

Customized Engineering Solutions, Not Off-the-Shelf Machines

Because tooling, mechanical structure and controls are all designed in-house, an SPM enquiry moves from process description to a working machine without handing any part of the design to a third party — shortening the loop on feasibility and cycle-time questions.

Machines range from simple pneumatic/mechanical single-cycle stations to PLC-controlled, sensor-interlocked multi-station lines with HMI operator control, scoped to your budget and required repeatability.

Quality Assurance

Every machine is functionally trial-run against your specified cycle time and process parameters before dispatch, with safety interlocks tested and documented.

SPM-Specific Questions

Common Questions on Special Purpose Machines

Do you design and build the SPM in-house, or outsource parts of it?

Design, fabrication, assembly and trial-run are all handled in-house in our Pune facility — mechanical structure, tooling and controls are integrated under one roof.

Can an SPM be built around our existing part or process, with no prior machine to copy?

Yes — most of our SPMs are engineered from scratch around a specific part drawing, cycle-time target and process description rather than copied from an existing machine.

What level of automation can be included?

From simple pneumatic/mechanical cycles to PLC-controlled, sensor-interlocked stations with HMI operator control — the automation level is scoped to your budget and required repeatability.

Do you provide operator training and after-sales support?

Yes — commissioning includes operator training at handover, and spares/support are available for the working life of the machine.

What's the typical lead time for a custom SPM?

Lead time depends on machine complexity, number of stations and automation level — confirmed in writing after process review, typically issued within 5–7 working days of receiving your requirement.

Have a Repetitive Operation to Automate?

Tell us the process and cycle target — we'll scope a machine for it.
